Hello everyone. It's Monday, September
6th @ 5:00 p.m. I just returned from Mississippi, I’m exhausted
but couldn’t wait to share with you all what happened. To every one of
you who donated money, food items, water or prayed for us – THANK YOU!
We had heard some scary stories about hijackings on the highway, people
being shot for gas, etc. but we had no trouble at all getting down to my
father’s house. We left Burleson @ midnight on Friday, September
2nd, and got in to
Heidelberg @ about 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning. |

Things we experienced:
There weren’t many
gas stations opened, and the ones that were had gas lines with anywhere
from 50 – 100 cars in line. The gas limit varied from $20.00 - $30.00
per car, per visit. You might have to wait up to 4 hours for gas, and
hope that they didn’t run out before you got there.

The was no flood
damage to area where we went… Lots of damaged homes and trees down,
power lines down and cars damaged. The crisis in this area is the fact
that they have no electricity or drinking water and might not have that
returned to full use for at least 3 to 4 more weeks.
Just imagine:
You must stand in line to get into your local Walmart. The line might
be a 4 to 5 hour wait. The store is only letting 3 to 4 people in at a
time and you can only spend $20.00. What will you buy? For those of
you that have babies… will it be diapers and formula? Will you wait in
line everyday to be able to make a meal for your family? You might
think of driving to the next state over (about a 2 hour drive) but you
aren’t sure if they’ll have gasoline to get you there or back… you need
to save your gasoline for your generator so you don’t lose the food you
do have in your refrigerator… This is for the lucky people. |

Gas lines as we were leaving Mississippi to head
back to Texas.
Thankfully we had enough gas to get us back to Louisiana!
